![]() The Milan flights start on March 27, Thessaloniki on June 18 and Barcelona on June 19. BA’s smaller CityFlyer planes, however, are perfectly suited. It can’t accommodate the big planes usually used by budget carriers like EasyJet and Ryanair. So why haven’t other airlines done this before? In short, City Airport is limited by its particularly short runway. It’s all pretty exciting, primarily because City is easily London’s most central airport. It’s just 23 minutes by train from the City of London itself. But soon to join the droves of serious suits are holidaymakers on their way to some of Europe’s sunniest destinations. British Airways has added loads of cheap new holiday routes, including flights to cultural hotspots Milan, Thessaloniki and Barcelona.Ĭity is currently used mostly as a hub for business travellers, with frequent flights to the likes of Frankfurt, Geneva and Zurich. You know, that tiny, weeny airport in the Docklands that everyone knows exists, but not very many people (well, only five million or so per year) actually use? It might just be about to get a whole lot more popular.
